Catch Us Being Super (CUBS)
In Room 6 we use a color coded system that assists children in monitoring their behavior. CUBS is an obvious reference to the Nevada school mascot but it's also an acronym for Catch Us Being Super! This is part of a system that helps students take responsibility for their own behavior while at school.
Here's how it works. As a class we create a list of rules for positive behavior that fit in with our guidelines for success. Those guidelines are:
BE SAFE BE RESPECTFUL DO YOUR BEST
In our classroom there is a chart that helps children track their success. Everyone begins each day with his/her clip on green. Students who are having difficulty following our social contract must move their clip to the yellow, orange or red cards. If students consistently follow the social contract with few reminders they will move their clip up to blue.
* Blue card Excellent Effort!
* Green card: Ready to learn
* Yellow card: Think about it
* Orange card: Make better choices
* Red card: Parent contact
Your child will bring home a behavior report which is located in his/her daily folder. Take a few minutes to review the report with your child. Be sure to praise the "green and blue days" but please remember a pulled card now and then is okay too. The important thing is that you are communicating with your child about his/her day.
Thank you for your support. Please give me a call, stop in or email (jgoecke@nevadacubs.org) with any questions or concerns.
